The officer saw 35-year-old Anton Ordjonikidze lighting the drug in tin foil as he approached the 2013 Nissan Altima with California license plates in the Goffle Road lot, Detective Sgt. Matthew Hoogmoed said Tuesday.
When he asked if he had anything else in the car, Ordjonikidze gave the officer a bundle of heroin, rubber bands and other pieces of drug paraphernalia, the sergeant said.
He was taken into custody, charged with possession of drugs and drug-related paraphernalia and released pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Paterson.
